Taso the Greek’s “Bumpin’ Heads 2008″

WWE Smackdown 2/22/08

Hi-lites of No Way Out PPV and the Elimination Chamber, The Undertaker.

Edge comes out with the Edgeheads. Edge says some generic bullshit. He calls himself the opportunist. Edge mentions Undertaker’s undefeated streak at Wrestlemania, 15 in a row. “Just like me. Somethings got to give.” Edge says he’s been keeping the title, he’s a winner. He makes fun of the crowd, calls them failures. Edge keeps talking and it gets boring until the bell sounds for the Undertaker. Ryder or Hawkins, I’m not sure, get chokeslamed Edge is outta there!

Shelton Benjamin vs. Jimmy Wayne Yang
I want to like Shelton Benjamin, and he was gold on ECW in that tag match with Burke vs. Flair and CM Punk. But I was hoping Yang would win this match because they gave him alot of offense on benjamin and he was spot on. Why this match sucked? The wrong guy won. **3/4

Maryse is backstage with Teddy Long.

Clips of Hornswoggle taking a beating from JBL. You think JBL is pissed he is woring with a midget at Smackdown?

Biscuits and Gravy… clips from last week. Out come D & D with Cherry. Cole calls them the former world champs. Wow, those titles mean nothing when you think about it and they gave these guys NO time with those titles. Festus is good, but Jesse gets in there and the crowd dies. They throw Cherry in front of Jesse and he eats a kick. His nose bleeds and D & D take over. Crowd’s kinda dead. Festus gets the hot tag and goes apeshit on D & D! I think Jesse and Festus won the match.

Big Show vs. Floyd Mayweather “No Way Out” recap from RAW, I believe. Mayweather comes off as a superstar. Big Show apologizes. Then he shakes his hand. Then he challenges Floyd because he is “bigger”, so I guess that means he can beat him. Maybe they made Big Show look a little bit like a pussy when he flinches? Still, this is better then NASCAR.

The WWE goes to Gutatamala(sp?). Self high five. Rey Rey prostitutes himself for the “Brand”.

Big Daddy V comes out to wrestle Shannon Moore. Why? Wow, he botches a move. Big Daddy V just doesn’t do it for me. Why is he even on TV? He’s just big and fat. Matt Stryker is on the outside. Is this the worst combination of manager and wrestler, ever? Moore makes a comeback with kicks but gets hit with the samoan drop and then the big flabby elbow. Big Daddy V wins. Why are they pushing him? Why not do a tag team instead? Why wasn’t this a qualifier match? Big Daddy V in MITB at Wrestlemania is fine. It would justify this whole push. Stryker and V could be a good tag team. Big Daddy V will NEVER get over, neither will Stryker. Most likely, not. So put them in a tag team.

MVP’s theme music hits and he comes to the ring favoring his wounds from “No Way Out 2008″ and the elimination chamber. His opponent is Batista.

MVP takes over early and Cole mentions the chain. Both guys are selling the elimination chamber match. Last week on SD! Batista beat MVP.

Opening match: NON (UNITED STATES) TITLE MATCH: Batista defeated Montel Vontavious Porter (WWE United States Champion)..

* MVP forced ring announcer Justin Roberts to proclaim “And still U.S. Champion, Montel Vontavious Porter!”

Batista beat MVP the week before. The match is awful, dull, boring, slow. The loss is mentioned but it doesn’t seem to mean anything. Batista slaps a bear hug on MVP, who was on top from the start, but couldn’t get any heat on Batista. MVP hits a whiplash neckbreaker with the top rope, then hits a big move but only gets a two-count. MVP goes for the playmaker but Batista hits a spinebuster. Three in a row! Meh… they kinda just buried their United States Champion here.

They show recap of Hornswoggle vs. McMahon in the cage. Somewhat tasteless. But effective too. The Hornswoggle McMahon storyline is so bad. Anything that comes in contact to it gets the “taint” of it.

The Great Khali comes to the ring. Cole says Khali’s manager broke his kneecap in three places. Kane comes out. They wrestle. It is bad. Kahli puts on a nerve grip. Khali slaps on the vice grip. Kane climbs the corner turnbuckle and they fall backwards and Khali’s got the body scissors around the waist and the vice grip, and the ref counts to three. They somehow make Kane look like a dick. This is anti-booking.

Undertaker video

Chuck Palumbo vs. Chris Jackson. The announcers say Michelle McCool is scared backstage, as Palumbo beats up a jobber. He hits a big move but picks the guy up at the two count. Hits the full-throttle for the win. Pretty lame.

They show Rey Rey backstage.

Rey Mysterio comes out. They are in San Diego, California. Cole says he got hurt in Santiago Chile in a match. It’s not as loud as I thought it would be. Rey cuts a John Cena promo. No wonder people are starting to boo him. Rey says he feels bad that he is going to be out. But he wants a match because he’s in San Diego, one more match before he goes for surgery. Still he doesn’t get a big pop.

VICKI! Yay! She says she doesn’t give a damn. They show the clip of Rey taking out Vicki, Edge proposing, and Rey tells her she should drop the Guerrero name. Vicki doesn’t give a damn and neither do I, since Rey won the title how many years ago and then got jobbed out to everyone.

Vickie says he has to compete and Rey says he is hurt. But I thought he said he wanted a last match in san Diego before going away. Vicki says Rey must face Chavo Guerrero. So they’re gonna feed Rey Rey to Chavo, the ECW Champion, as Rey goes out for surgery?

Rey beats the ECW Champion in a decent match. Big Show comes in a plants Rey with a chokeslam, in a long, drawn out in-ring attack. I don’t care, but it fits in with Big Show and the Mayweather angle.

Not a good build up toward Mania. Pretty bad SD!, to be honest.
