—————————————————–
Jerry Lynn vs. Petey Williams
Well executed match, nothing spectacular, but I did enjoy Jerry Lynn hitting a Kryptonite Krunch. Petey did a good job as a heelish little prick although this was all in all straight up. *3/4
Elix Skipper vs. Spud
Big man/little man dynamic being played out in this match. Timing of the little man’s offense was good, and then Elix would do a nice nasty move and get it right back. Real cool walk the ropes springboard dropkick on Spud by Elix. Good underdog match. Larger wrestlers can do so many things working with a lighter opponent, and the reverse is true as well. But this was over stupid fast with a bad finish. I felt jipped, even when SJK and Abyss came in and destroyed poor little Spud. *
Masato Tanaka vs Steve Corino
King of Old School doesn’t mean you can go out there and look like Phil Hickerson, Corino. Stiff, strong hitting, but average in the beginning. Tanaka’s running forearm is a thing of beauty and Corino eats one on the ropes that looked real good. Corino busts out an STO, first time I have seen him do that. They busted out alot more offense and it was going good until we had interference and run-ins. NO CONTEST *1/2
Tracy Smothers & Chris Hamrick vs. Al Snow & The Blue Meanie
Did what it was there to do, entertain. JOB Squad did famous tag team finishers. There was a dance-off. Then a chain fell out of Tracy Smothers briefs. He tried to hide it but it was very obvious, and the match went to the finish shortly thereafter. *1/2
Jeff Jarrett vs. Harry Smith
Both guys did a good job with their own talents but the finish was ridiculously contrived. But Jeff definitely made this entertaining. Harry is a tall fellow, isn’t he? *3/4
Low Ki vs. Jody Fleisch vs. Jonny Storm (3-WAY)
Really didn’t like this match. Expected better. Lotta big spots but no rhythm at any time really. Sloppy and botched as well. Homoicde on the outside was the best part of the match, as were the Low Ki ghetto stomps. *3/4
Sterling James Keenan vs. Ulf Herman (Title Qualifier)
Super crappy. SJK kick. SJK punch. I expect better from him. Maybe I shouldn’t. 3/4*
Darren Burridge vs. Doug Williams (Title Qualifier)
Real good opening sequence and “British” style, which was very good. Darren Burridge may be my favorite Brit wretler after Nigel and Regal. Became somewhat pedestrian in the middle but Burridge’s antics kept it interesting until another crappy, outta the blue, finish. *3/4
AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Charlie Haas (4-WAY)
I want to see Joe kick people’s asses all over the ring, but it probably isn’t smart to do on a consistent basis. I was hoping for Haas vs. Joe but I didn’t get to see that either. **
Abyss vs. Sabu (Title Qualifier)
Well, I’ve seen this same match now about 6 times and it might end differently but the beginning and the middle are the same old story. It’s enteetaining, yes. But Sabu is slow and getting slower. He took a nasty bump Black Hole Slam right into the pile of thumbtacks but that was it for truely awesome bumps or moves. *3/4
