Zero-One Max Weekly #52

Taped 3/21/06 Sapporo Part 1)
——————————–
1) Colt Cabana vs. Kamikaze
Kamikaze is the former Tengu Kaiser is the former Aniki. Worked some armwork together real nice. Then they worked an abdominal stretch dealio, then Cabana kicked his ass. Good quality match. **1/4
2) Minoru Fujita & Ikuto Hidaka vs. Takuya Sugawara & Crazy Boy (NWA Int’l Lightweight Tag Titles)
I watched this twice. I was sadly underwhelmed. I expect Sugawara to be able to work well with Fujita & Hidaka but the whole thing was a spotfest-mess and really boring. I blame Crazy Boy. He sucked. But this match never got into a good rythm at all. *1/2
3) Shinjiro Ohtani vs. Mitsuya Nagai (AWA Title)
Ohtani controls for a bit then goes for a face wash and gets cut off. Mitsuya Nagai then attacks the taped up knee, rips off the bandages, Texas Cloverleaf, makes a mockery of Ohtani, throws him into some chairs at ringside. Meanwhile, I see Corino running around with pink hair and tights. I think he is seconding Ohtani. Anyway, Ohtani and Nagai begin to trade suplexes and sleepers and submissions. Ohtani takes it with a sleeper/submission variation and then a guy on a horse shows up. And Ohtani then rides off on this horse in the gymnasium. He also cuts a promo from what appears to be Coney Island Astro Park. **

Champion Carnival
———————————
1. Kaz Hayashi/Masa Fuchi/Ryuji Hijikata vs. Nobutaka Araya/Kikutaro/Nobukazo Hirai
Fun match with Kikutaro (Ebessan, almost 100% positive)*1/2
2. Arashi vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima
A good test for young Katsuhiko. I didn’t care for it though, hard for him to wrestle a big guy like Arashi. **
3. Kensuke Sasaki/Tomoaki Honma/Brute Issei vs. NOSAWA/MAZADA/AKIRA
My first look at Brute. Team CAPS had fun, worked Brute’s arm, but again this was all routine stuff. And not enough Tomoaki Honma. You can never get enough Honma, but maybe that’s my BJPW mark talking. And, of course, everyone ran away from Kensuke the whole match, so it wa pretty par for the course. *3/4
4. Taiyo Kea/D-Lo Brown/Bull Buchanan/Matt Morgan vs. Yoshikazu Taru/Judo Suwa/Shuji Kondo/brother Yasshi This match could have been very good. They missed a bunch of spot and D-Lo should have gotten more time. The corner splash dosey-doe spot gets repetetive if it happens 6 times in a match. Matt Morgan is a monster, WOW. *3/4
5. Satoshi Kojima vs. Minoru Suzuki [A]
I thought this was a hell of a match that showed just how dynamic Suzuki can be, just how much influence his personality and his character can have in a match. Kojima is either a great actor or I dunno, he looked half scared and half confused during this match, trying to figure out what to do with Suzuki. ***3/4
6. Keiji Mutoh vs. Yutaka Yoshie
Fat man offense followed by Mutoh come back. Dropkicks to the legs, shining wizard, dragon screw, figure four leg lock, etc. Yoshie makes a comeback with an avalanche and a STINYFACE-UH! Dramatic events began to play out in a good way with blocked finishers and such, but I haven’t EVER seen this many shining wizards EVER! One match, more shining wizards then I have seen Mutoh, Hurricane, Arik Cannon, and Shane Storm combined attempt. fans enjoyed it. Novelty to me. **
