Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. Rob Van Dam - Intercontinental Title Sorta sloppy work but interesting match because these guys can bust out the good acrobatic and athletic moves. These guys just don’t click though. *1/2
John Cena vs. Chris Masters
It was almost like Cena carried Masters. Clean finish for cena. Rey Mysterio couldn’t buy a clean finish all month. Masters works fine as a guy with a good gimmick who can lose but he’s young and when the push comes, with the right manager/female, Masters can be a decent champ. Probably two years away. Cena vs. RVD looks good. **
Kane vs. Trevor Murdoch
WTF?! in so many ways.
Torrie Wilson vs. Mickie James (c)
Pretty bad in some spots… but they gave it a go and that’s enough. Mickie wins with a nice implant DDT and it was smart because Torrie would kill herself and likely James as well, trying to execute a Strarusfaction. The Beth Phoenix debut is going on three weeks and we still don’t know what the deal is with this angle.*
Umaga vs. Viscera
I don’t think this was an official match but it was an officially stupid segment until Umaga came out and kicked Big Vis’s ass. I’d actually like to see Viscera against Umaga in the ring for about 12 minutes. That would be a decent match.
The Spirit Squad vs. Shawn Michaels (5 on 1 Handicap match)
They should have cut to the chase faster, but I liked the angle. Going after HBK’s knee and ripping off the brace was strong. Kenny grabbing the sledgehammer away from HHH was also pretty slick setting up the ending. *1/4
