IWC 1/20/06 “A New Beginning”
IWC presents A New Beginning
January 20th, 2006

IWC Heavyweight Title
Shirley Doe vs. Austin Aries
Austin couldn’t save this match from stinking up the entire card. I have about three Doe matches under my belt, all of them in Japan, none of them this terrible. The man looked like he could barely move, and got ONE, that is correct, 1 entire move off the whole match. Dissapointment to say the least, but maybe my expectations were too lofty.
IWC Super Indy Title
“Fabulous” John McChesney vs. “Balls Hot” Troy Lords
Definitely meant to be match of the night, and it had potential. But thee guys are one step away from being crisp, athletic, well-versed wrestlers. There also wasn’t enough innovative stuff. It was a typical indy match by two guys that are pretty decent for indy workers. Still, a solid effort. Went 20 minutes. First time I have seen either of these two guys, was impressed.
IWC Tag Team Title
The Gambino Brothers Moving Company vs. Sterling James Keenan & Dean Radford
Dean Radford looks like Rhino’s little brother. And who came up with The Gambino’s gimmick as a couple of furnitutre movers? I’d hate to have that on my resume. Craptastic overbooked finish to a decent match. SJK is pretty damn good on the mic.
ICW/ICWA Tex-Arkana Television Title
“Sweet N Sour” Larry Sweeney vs. Jason Gory
I was impressed with Jason Gory because I thought he would suck balls but was adequately interesting and well-rounded. But I really don’t wanna see Larry Sweeney’s ass again. This is the fourth or fifth show of this calendar year I have seen from “Sweet & Sour” and every time I get to see his ass crack and I’m sorta sick of it.
Super Indy V Qualifier
“Wonderman” Glenn Spectre vs. Shiima Xion
This was a very strong match, with good personalities, innovative moves, and a reason for the match. A Super Indy V Tournament spot was on the line. Spectre is definitely a good mix of comedy wrestler and a decent worker and is fun to watch. This MOTYC isn’t going to last long on my list I am sure but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sebastian Dark vs. Abyss
Fine match, but I on’t get why Dark is pushed so strongly in the fed when he looks like and works like an average indy wrestler.
Dennis Gregory vs. HENTAI
Yeesh! “Hentai is the greatest Super Indy V Champion of all time!” Really? Wow.
J-Rocc vs. Jon Bolen
J-Rocc comes off as a tough guy on the mic and I liked his work in the ring. Bolen just looked like a regular musclebound meathead.
Bubba the Bulldog vs. Dirk Ciglar
Who woulda thought Dirk Ciglar was decent enough, plus a good look. Gotta feel bad for Bubba the Bulldog, has no look. Surprised I haven’t seen him before in an IWA-MS deathmatch tourney, though, from his touted experience. He looks ik he could fit in with Corp and Ian and the rest of those nutjobs.
